Reliable Garages in Cape Town

Good day all, just wanting to know if there are any suggestions for a reliable garage in Cape Town that can do a top gasket replacement on the N47 motor.
Would be much appreciated.

Hi, what area are you in? You can try RTA, Ross Tech Auto. Jason is an ex BMW mechanic and a reliable, trustworthy and reasonably priced person. He works on my car

I wouldn't recommend RTA - never ever again after my last visit.

Visit One:
  • Install DP - simple task which went well so I thought I'd use him again since he was very close to my work. Big mistake.
Visit Two:
  • Installed new front shocks inverted which resulted in links immediately failing (Because somehow, they were installed on the reversed shocks).
  • He uses shit oil - "G Tech". Whatever the fuck that is.
  • Crushed my side skirt on the lift (Rubber lifting block had fallen out but no temporary one was used or a replacement requested, which I'd obviously O.K. instantly)
  • Used Febi parts on mounts instead of OEM, which I only learned while picking the car up
  • Invoice was a complete balls-up

Needless to say, I immediately redid all the work elsewhere on the subsequent days. 0/10 would recommend.

EDIT: This was in Q4 2020

Thank you for this feedback, was hesitant about RTA in any case

Would highly recommend Wentzel Motor Works, Divan is an ex BMW and Porsche master mechanic. Really knows his stuff. Always take my cars to him.

Have also heard good things about Rolf at Brilliant Mechanical Workshop, also been specializing in BMWs for many years.

Used to use Mike Bridge Auto, no idea whether it still exists but was well priced and he did a fair bit of work on a few M cars. Was montague gardens area.

Wow, that's not a good experience. Sorry to hear about your trouble with them, and I've been taking my cars to him since he worked from home and two both his workshop locations, old and new. Never missed a beat on my part, but I guess everyone has different experiences. Good to share and take under advisement
