OEM & Import Wheels?

Hi Everyone,

I'm busy looking for a F87 M2 in Manual. Which I've had a thread in the 'wanted' department for ages, as expected. But I'm patient!

What I'm very interested in is changing the wheel when I eventually find it. I'd love to get the 1M fork wheels or even the M2 CS wheels but I've received quotes from BMW around the R100k mark without tyres. Yikes!

So I've look internationally at a few builds and seen some amazing combo's one of my favourites is a set of APEX SM-10's which as you can see in the image look incredible. But there are also OZ wheels, BBS, and a few other brands that I just can't find the local suppliers for.

So I have two questions:
1. Where is the best place to source proper OEM M wheels (current or previous-gen M cars)?
2. Does anyone know any local suppliers for APEX, OZ, BBS etc?

Thanks for your help
Best regards

I got my forged 20" M Performance 863Ms with PS4S for MUCH less than R100K  Speak to a different branch maybe? The CS wheels (from a quick search just looking at what each costs in dollars as a reference point) should not be that far out

Anyway @FiRi@Rennzport can help with a totally custom set to your exact offset requirements also well within that ballpark. You can also speak to a BBS dealer like VAG Cafe or OZ dealer Import Parts... but BBS and OZ are not cheap for forged items. Forged BBS for my F10 M5 5 or 6 years ago was about R175K without tyres.

Mo from Epic Racing is the local OZ distributor 083 493 2119.

Have bought many sets of Alleggerita's from him for the Porsche GT Supercup guys over the years and always great service.

The CS Wheels (M Performance) goes for that price by BMW, however it depends on your relationship with the parts sales guy as he can apply a discount. I bought mine for under 80K at the time might have been closer to 70K I think.

Expect to pay big bucks for any of the big brands (OZ, BBS, etc.) due to inflation and exchange rates—it’s just the reality these days. When I was shopping for wheels for my C63, I found VAG Motorsport to be the cheapest option by a large margin. I paid close to R50k for my set, whereas other places were quoting upwards of R60k+.

If you’re considering forged wheels (and I think it’s a fantastic option for strength and weight savings), your best bet locally would be Rennzport. Zaahier (+27 83 401 2299) offers custom forged monoblock 19-inch wheels in any design for around R45k, depending on the complexity of the design. It’s hard to beat that price for quality forged wheels.

Alternatively, you can reach out to @FiRi@Rennzport here on the forum. However, based on my experience, Zaahier is more reliable when it comes to communication via WhatsApp.

For OEM M wheels, sourcing locally can be tricky and often expensive. I’d suggest keeping an eye on reputable international sellers—sometimes you can find lightly used sets at a fraction of the cost, even after shipping.

Hope this helps, and good luck with your search for the perfect M2! It’s a stunning car, and paired with the right wheels, it’ll look and perform like a dream.

No local dealers for Apex, a mate of mine is importing a set himself for his M2 currently.

Thanks so much for the advice everyone. Hugely insightful. I've called a few dealerships and found a solid solution. I got a quote on a pair of 1M wheels, the same set that was available on the E90 M3. Which I think are one of the nicest set of M wheels out there. I got a price of R45k which is incredible. And 1 day delivery. So that wheel on the M2 I think will look beautiful!

Next question. What is the best tyre and where can I get best price!

I noticed that the standard M2 wheels size is:
Front: P245/35YR19
Rear: P265/35YR19

And the 1M wheels is:
Front: P225/35YR19
Rear: P255/35YR19

Will this actually work?

offset will matter far more than actual size. But you are giving up a fair bit of rubber. I'd guess you can stretch to fit on 235 and 265 F/R but yeah...

Just looking at the specs it seems that it will work. The rim widths are the same 9 & 10J

In terms of offset, it seems it will be a bit more 'in' on the front by 3mm and will be equivalent of running a 15mm spacer at the rear

Dunno if that helps you.

In case my googling is wrong though: This tool is very useful: https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/
Thanks so much for the help here. So if it doesn't make sense on the car from a dimensions point of view then I'm not sure I would want to do it.
So you say it will sit a little in (3mm) on the front and then almost protrude a bit on the rear? How does that work if the width is 225 vs the standard 226?

I found some images of someone in the states that did in on Bimmerpost. The combo is insane but I'm not sure if this guy added a spacer or this is as you say, how it comes? Check it out...

IMO, these pics are indeed how it would come. You'd probably need a spacer on the front to keep the look consistent because 15mm over stock is definitely quite a bit for this car. I briefly ran similarly aggressive offsets on my F10... if it was me, then I would probably go for something slightly less aggressive that would be more like a 12mm difference over stock (every mm counts LOL). The M2 owners can chime in here.

Looks like a 15mm spacer on the front will be good to bring yours out just enough (this car apparently has 15mm all round)... but this is QUITE aggressive fitment on the rear.

What is the offset of the 1M wheel? also if you plan on running spacers are you also going to lower the car as at max with lowered M2 you can run a 12mm spacer before it starts rubbing (with the standard offset wheels 9Jx19 ET29 - 10Jx19 ET40).

Looked online for the E90 M3 Wheel offset
9Jx19 ET31
10Jx19 ET25

If this is the offset at the rear then it is going to poke out of the arch.

Not sure where you got these details from but stock 1M / E series M3 Tyre combination is
F: 245/35/19
R: 265/35/19

The offset and widths are far more important and will determine how a mag and tyre combo size will "fit" onto a car. This is especially important if you are going with an aggressive lower offset (ET) or broader wheel width(J) and will then mean you either need to consider rolling your arches, running a skinnier tyre, stretching a tyre or a combinations of the above.
