X3 N47 E83 Information

Hi can someone please explain the following pic - what exactly does it do.Looks like a pump and solenoid for the oil cooler?

Looks like a heater control valve/pump to me. Piped into the coolant line.

It's also known as the hot water control valve. Gets super hot, even after engine is off. I've known the e83 to have one cylinder/pump.

Thanks that's what I was worried about it does get very hot.
