Learning a lot with DIY, what at first looked like a cobweb, you start to learn where what goes etc. When it comes to probem solving also gets easier.

There was somewhat diffrence yes.
This is a great thread, I just went through all of it! This car has also been a consideration for us, as we like Bimmers, but need something to go off the beaten path a bit.

Have you done this? Not serious off-roading, more like gravel and uneven roads where one might need a bit of ground clearance and AWD.

We did do some gravel roads, did not do offroad itself but should be capable. It handled gravel road farely well. Ground clearance is not to bad, most of the driverain parts from bottom is protected. Just to menion if you plan going offroad route, do research in fuel stations in surrounding area's to, it is one of her favourate parking spots.

In Feb last year, the auxilary pump for turbo's failed, bought a new pump at GW, and replaced it. After replacing radiator and transmission cooler, i developed a coolant leak, stipped down to search for the leak and found that the leak came from the auxilary pump. Opened it up to re seal the pump, found the impeller split in half. Upside is i prevented a possible future problem( hopefully not too late ), bigger problem is the snails ran for almost 20 k without20240815_151033.jpg20240815_151022.jpg20240815_151001.jpg that coolant pump. This pump was broken from the begining. Just did not know it. The auxilary pump first time round was noisy and had shaft play, after switching off the car you could hear the pump still running. After replacing it with a new unit ( From GW ) this was silent, thought this was because it is new. Bought a new OEM unit from agents and replaced. You can hear the pump running after switching off, so lets hope the snails did not get damaged, time will tell.

What was the brand of pump from Goldwagen that you fitted? (more for me to avoid in future!).

I don't think you will have suffered too much as there is SOME ambient circulation if it is anything like the F10 M5 system. It would be on cooldown that the pumps wouldn't have continued to circulate but provided you aren't coming off a track session and switching off immediately I wouldn't worry thaaaaaat much. The belt driven pump does create pressure and circulation even though there are auxilliary pumps for the heater core, turbos and engine... not at the ideal pressure and there was likely the siezed impeller acting as a resistance of sorts... but I don't think it was zero flow/cooling. The oil circulating also has a cooling function on top of lubrication (these IIRC are oil and water cooled turbos)

Cannot remember what brand it was, what i do remember there was two option's, OEM or non OEM, in which the price was also a diffrence. I have paid and ordered the OEM one. Still searching for the box of the one i bought from them. I think through the courier, they might have dropped the pump which caused the impeller to split in half, it is abrasive material. Somewhat good news on the snails side. And yes if i did push the car i did give the car some time to " cool off " before stopping or switching off.

Small update, Milage at 190XXXKm, booked in at agents for an oil service and airbag campaign. A few small things popped up while at agents, will sort those out when the car is back myself. Also got in touch with the third owner ( By accident ) Got some good history on the car while it was in his ownership. So officially i know now we are the fifth owner of the car. Fourth owner still missing.

I have been arranging maintenance on my cousin's E70 X5 50i with the N63 motor I think, and we had to replace the aux turbo pump and also and the aux charge cooler pump not long ago. Bought from GW 🫣 Hope it lasts.

Think it should, i really think someone dropped it between courier or GW employees. ( it was an ordered part and had to pay extra courier fees )Most of my parts i buy from them, if available, never had issues before.

Some random pics over the weekend. Car wash day, had a lost "boerbokkie" traveling with us, and the new airbag after oil service. Have the old oil filter too, will cut it open later today.

Still believe the S63 is not as bad as other "S" series motors. Mine was opened on 75XXXKM under motor plan, because one of the turbo's was damaged, they replaced the whole "rotation assembly" what they called. This was in 2014, costt was a tad above 265 K. There is alot of X5/6 ///M running around, motors was not touched, mileage above 200k.
