There is nothing much to update on the thread apart from the fact that I had new rear tyres fitted a few weeks ago.The rear Goodyears were quite worn on the insides ,probably due to previous the previous owner not doing alignment often enough,so I had Falken FK 510 RFTs fitted.I Initially wanted P-zeros again as they served me well on the 330d,but stock was an issue. The reviews on the Falkens seem decent,so let's hope they deliver.

Some random snaps from the other night just to keep the thread updated.

I did a round trip from Centurion to Marble Hall and back a week ago with the car. It was awesome to stretch the legs a bit and spend more time behind the wheel.

It returned an overall consumption of 5.3l/100 for the whole trip without any real effort and without using Eco-Pro at all, mostly comfort mode, but occasionally Sport mode with relatively long WOT accelerations here and there. After refilling on the way back ,the car managed 4.9l/100 from Kranskop to my house, which is unbelievable for a car of this size and bearing in mind that no real effort was done from my side to drive as economically as possible.

I believe it should easily do mid to low 4s when using Eco-Pro and when driving miss Daisy, but I didn't buy it to be an econo-mobile,so can't be fazed to test that theory.

Great consumption there.
I never drive my car in eco pro. Its a horrible setting no Its pure evil. Only time I use it is when my daughter drives the car because she wants to apply the same throttle input as she does when driving her mom's 1.0 Tsi polo.

We also never use it. It really turns the car into a donkey and there is virtually zero throttle response

Nice car, the 530ds are very underrated cars.
I got my G30 530d a few months ago from Sandton BMW. It is freaking amazing, especially on the open road. It makes a long road trip feel like nothing. It is comfortable, quiet (for a diesel) and the torque... My word!

I love it!

Stellar consumption! These cars are so impressive considering power on tap vs fuel consumption.

The only place I can recommend Eco-Pro is when driving through reserves and parks, managed to 'save' over 23km's when I did Pilanesburg.

I can imagine that it saves a bit of fuel when driving in those environments, especially because of the way the car "frees" when going downhill or when letting off the accelerator.

Lol,me too it's painful!! When I did my stage 1 my tuner mapped eco pro for me-now it's fun to drive in eco mode

Proper consumption. The eco programming on these cars is something else. As much as eco pro is a pain, I find it better to use eco pro when in a bit of traffic, it helps to keep me driving less like a maniac. For me on the freeway, unless I'm going for a spirited drive, eco pro with the coast function is like a game lol.

I tried it again this morning after reading your post, but only managed to "save" 0.8km before switching to comfort again:ROFLMAO:..It definitely does help to make sure that I drive a lot more sedately, but the terrible throttle response ruins it for me. The coasting function is really good though.

On your car, doubt it can improve more than that 0.8l 😀

I do notice the crappy throttle response, maybe xhp stage 2 will be in order 😆

I picked up a bubble on one of the front tyres and would like to replace these within the next month or so with Falken FK510 RFT's ,as I have those on the rear as well, but stock seems to be an issue.

Apart from Errols,Fundi and the "normal spots" ,does anybody maybe know where I could possibly get 245/40/29 Falken RFTs?

I just returned from a 3000 odd km trip from Centurion,to Plett and back. This car absolutely blew me away and did everything so damn effortlessly. The space and ride comfort is just unreal.

We were 4 people with a fully loaded boot and managed a overall consumption figure of 17.18km/l(5.8l/100) for the whole 29xxkm trip, calculated at the pump. There was a fair bit of spirited driving, sight seeing and regular cruising in the mix,so I am well chuffed with the consumption. I managed to reach Jbay on one tank from Centurion with 50km range left on the tank,1212km on one tank is mindblowing for such a big car.

Below is just a random pic I snapped on the Gariep dam wall
