technical Windscreen washer jets

Hi gents and ladies...

Weird one here.
Tried cleaning my windscreen this morning and nothing came out the nozzles, but because my lights were on, water sprayed out of the headlight nozzles as normal.
Do the wipers and headlights use the same motors are are there two different motors?
If not, where to from here?

Which car model?

Typically two different pumps, all at the water bottle.

I had the same issue with my e90, the water bottle had sludge in and the siff got blocked. I could hear the pump running but no water coming out...
I removed and cleaned out the windshield bottle to get slim off the pump filters also to clean the bottle. Then i used bmw windscreen additive and distilled water. Never had an issue since...

How easy/difficult is it to get the bottle out?

With me though, I can hear the pump obviously because the headlights still get washed (water comes out), but nothing comes out of the windscreen washers.

There are two pumps, one for the headlights and one for windscreen. Both my pumps worked they were just blocked with slim and sludge. Had to remove the driver side wheel and inner liner. Then its rather straight forward from there to take it out.

Howzit,

I’m having the very same issue, my 320d lci only has one pump though. When I trigger the lever only the wipers work and the water come out. The pump does not even make a sound when I trigger the lever.

Where did you get this sorted out. I’m in the Westrand. Thanks 🙏

I bought the pump at Goldwagen Constantia Kloof and fitted it myself. Not too hard of a job.

Looping back on this. How do we change where the washers spray the water? Mine seems to spray more to the top of the windscreen and over the car. Is it as simple as other cars where you just use a pin to adjust it?
