Hi all.

I am once again in need for your expert eyes and wisdom.

I am still on the hunt for my new car.

I have stumbled across this 2016 BMW 340i 66k KM on the clock with a full franchise service history with BMW.

It has been some time on the market place and has had a drop in price over time.

I have contacted the sales man at the dealership. Grayston Motors.

The car has the fully supplied BMW service history.

He did send a document from 2016 - 2021.

After that he just showed the iDrive photos.

All advice and comments are appreciated.

Fsh looks good...I mean you did all the checks with the dealer..phoned bmw..applied scrutinous eagle eye meticulous inspection with your own eyes and asked for a quality inspection be done by BMW..correct? After all that..put in an offer.

Looks good in the pics. Also dealer has mostly good reviews. I would check with Coisman and just inspect properly in person to ensure no prior accidents.

Given that they are asking a premium price for this car, one would expect it to be clean.

From the pics, no visible issues can be spotted.

-Scuff on the drivers seat extension
-Tyres look worn, especially the fronts. They also look to be the std f30 profile (225 fronts and 255 rears), these sometimes give issues with OEM M wheels, with the min. recommended size being 235 front and 265 rear.
-Check Tail lights to confirm that they are OEM Mperformance, the aftermarkets are okay, but at the pricepoint, you would want OEM.
-No pics of the passenger side of the car

Looking at the MP history, it is rather odd that the telematics control unit was changed multiple times, I would advise getting the codes scanned and cleared and rescanned to confirm no existing issues (most of the time, these cars store codes that wont show up on the iDrive).

Also, MP expired at only 30k kms - so you would want to check if any mods were done, look for signs of a downpipe. Also check the sport gauges are calibrated as per the stock values ...if it feels significantly faster than it should be, then it most likely has software.

Hi All.

Thank you all for the valuable input and advice.

I sent it in to BMW for a quality check and only 2 things came out which is the rear brakes and the infamous f30 handbrake clip broken.

Full franchise service history checked out.

Also did the Vin check with coisman and nothing weird.

She came back home with me yesterday and this car is a dream come true.

I would appreciate if anyone could additionally comment on any preventative maintenance I can do on my 340i/B58.

Also if anyone has replaced the handbrake clip with a metal one could you direct me as to where you got it done or where you ordered it

I would say if the TU fuel pump has not been installed yet, look at doing that preventatively.

This car looks very similiar to the one that was for sale in our For Sale section before, if this is the case then it has the Vargas turbo and meth as well? if not, and back to stock then this car is still solid anyway.
