2012 E90 320d Lci Battery Coding East Rand

Hi.

I am about to purchase a new battery for my 320d - E90 2012 Lci. I really need to replace asap but do not want to do so without the coding.

Anyone who can do it on the East Rand, and what would it cost more or less? I am in Boksburg.

The battery I am looking at is;

I had my new battery registered to my car for R350 at pit auto tech just off Edenvale road offramp. That is not too far from you.
Give them a call and they will sort you out

Your car will require an AGM battery if it has xenon's, auto lights etc. I replaced mine with a First National AGM battery from battery Centre which is exactly the same as the OEM AGM battery, It just doesn't have the BMW sticker on it. First National Batteries use to or still do supply BMW with their batteries. I paid around R3800. This was around 2021 though. My battery didn't require coding and is still perfect to date.

Correct! I just dis a battery replacement on my 120d last week. AGM 92Ah. It also required coding which they did for free.

Battery was replaced with an oem bmw battery. Turns out the supplier actually supplies bmw. Worked out to R5014.00

Also code ouy start stop, this will shorten the life span of the battery.

I don't believe this is true for the e90.

AGM batteries are for cars with Start/Stop, e90s use the normal cheaper battery. (only the M3 uses AGM if I'm not mistaken)

Coding is required for when you change the battery specs - this is done to protect the modules in the car.

Battery registration is needed whenever a new battery is fitted - this to prevent under/over charging...that said, there are cases where this doesn't make a difference but for a few extra bucks, I would recommend getting it registered.

fyi - an OEM battery should last anywhere from 5-7 years.
