Let's say you find a car that ticks all the boxes (FSH,enatis, etc) but except the price, how much room is there to negotiate to bring the price down a bit? please gooi in some tips to negotiate for a lower price than listed especially on the X3.

You ask the seller/dealer, will you consider XXX price. They can say yes, no or revert with a price in between.

If there are any items that need attention and will cost you money you can use this to justify it. Alternatively just say your budget is XXX.

On the flip side, one can argue that the other X3s at the market average retail price are of poorer quality or abused. So, it would make sense that a good model is priced slightly above the average.

What is the price of the car you are looking at, mileage and year?

If dealer doesn't want to bring price down, then ask about throwing in extended warranty, which they can probably add at minimal cost to themselves and pass on zero cost to you.

HI All

I need buying advice, we are looking for a family car and daily for the wife. Last year we became 3 so we need more space for stroller and car seat. The car will mainly be used for long trips and some short distance by the wife. She likes the BMW X3 and our budget is R800k max, she has agreed that we can look in the used market since a brand new X3 is way out of my budget

1) 2022 X3 20d <50000km. why 2022 and <50000km 1st is my budget and 2nd with 2022 the motoplan would be left with 3 yrs and 50000km so we can drive for 3 yrs or 50000km without worrying about motorplan or warranty, most of them are X-lines.

Budget is R800k, LCI, 20d, <50000km

Ja that budget line doesn't work so well anymore bud.
I told many okes, why did you call me if your budget is way belo asking price...many other cars for sale at your price so go shop them. The reason I say this is because you have some DOF low-ballers who believe that THEIR lowball budget has applicable to your sale and off late, every doos has a BUDGET which is about R90k off then some R60k off...

So rather don't go shopping that is way out of your budget and try haggle...example an X3, those cars sell well...a BMW dealesrhip will set the car up for you in a good condition according to standards but you can try around R10k etc but don;t go lowballing...the dealership will easily tell you politely to GTFO...private sellers even easier to say GTFO quicker cause it is also time wasting.

Thats why you have a budget, stick to it and if you cannot then up your budget but don't well priced vehicles to come down to you by large margins just because...you feel entitled to it.

Lowballers FTL.

I just bought my G01 X3 and the prices are still a bit high however there are a few diamonds amongst there and with that price you looking at, give BMW Midrand a call, they have 2 or 3 demo LCi 20s at R849k, I am sure they will play around with the figures, Chat to Reece and tell him Ashley referred you.

There are a few xlines in western cape well within my budget but buying a used car online is risky business.
Give the guys at BMW Constantia a call and ask to speak to Tareeq (not sure of spelling). They have anything between 8 - 12 of these in stock. Some within your budget and mileage (I don’t know the spec you want).

Note: The X3 20d LCI is BMWs best selling car in SA at the moment so you need to act fast when an ad pops up.

You can have the car sent to you on a truck. Your risk is lower when dealing with BMW but you will still have to do your due diligence either way in terms of accident history, MP, MP claims, service history, etc.

Western Cape has lots of cars but my fear is buying a car I haven't seen. In gauteng while you are doing due diligence the car disappears 😂
