Found this 2003 e46 330i Individual

Hi Guys,

I found this 1 owner 2003 e46 330i Individual manual with 194 xxx km on the clock while I was looking for something to build in to a bit more of a trackday car.

My 'problem' that I now have is that I am not sure if I should make this specific car a trackday car as it is almost too neat and clean for that, but also not sure what else to do with it if then not tracking it, so I am looking at potentially taking it from neat atm to very neat and then selling it on to someone else that can keep it as it is and continue my search for a trackday car, but what price range can something like this go for?

Things that will need attention if I want to part ways with it:
1. Tires - current has plenty of tread but they are old and have fine cracks on them.
2. Small rust spots appearing where stone chips and scratches were not attended too in time.
3. Small ding on the passenger side door.
4. Black plastic diffuser on the rear bumper is faded.

Mechanically the car is really good and feels very solid and not abused, and still 100% stock so no concerns there, well other than a current potential vacuum leak that I am busy attending too.

IF the price that I could potentially get for it and what I paid + above repairs don't match up then I will keep it and start turning it into a trackday car.

Let me know what you guys think on potential resell price, or other option for its future if not trackday.

Thanks.

Mmmm extended leather doorcards  Pity it isnt a 6-speed, but car looks super clean for the mileage, probably worth 130ish once the small issues are sorted (Roof lining and pillar trims included). Hard to say as prices for these are all over the place lately.

As much as it might hurt, it has been said that a good track day car comes from a good road car...so if you do go down that route, I would want to by a few parts off you

The rust on the A pillar and other spots are likely what encouraged the Track Build i assume

Thx Benji, yeah the roof lining is still pretty good, but yes the pillar trims would need attention.

I was also thinking around the 130k mark, but I suppose willing buyer willing seller in today's market.

Try advertising it without spending too much on it in case you are not able to recoup this.

If no bites at the price you want, go for the track build.

This is the first time I see a 2003 e46 with what looks like pre-facelift items. That climate control panel was revised in the facelift. Weird how you have all the mtech2 trim but a 5 speed gearbox. Thought the mtech2 trim came out after the 6 speed change, might be wrong though. But I am definitely not wrong on that climate control panel. Even 2002 cars had the updated version.

Otherwise, looks neat. What a difficult choice to choose between making it more neat vs track car.

The rust will need to be dealt with either way, but its destiny will guide the level of work/cost that will go in to the repair.

I bought the car blindly as a to-be track car but when I saw it and drove it I started to develop this issue of 'to neat' but will see.

I didnt think of this. Sunroof not ideal for a track car indeed
Well people do take them out and put in a blanking plate made from something light. I doubt its a blocker for this car.
Saw this on a youtube video by ChrisFix I believe on an e46.

The only reason I would say not to track this car, is to not remove a nice driving, alpine white, mtech2 330i from the roads. Cars made to be driven by someone that will appreciate it for that it is.

100% on this point, perhaps there is someone out there with a track car wanting to swap for a road car with price difference paid either way.

The sunroof with other individual parts will probably go to my other e46 330d that a family member is driving if if if.

Got the original proposal from Forsdicks when the car was purchased with the other paperwork and spare keys. Service history all stamped and BMW until he started using APS for last 6 or so services, was not done every 12 months but I assume on the service indicator.

I'll play devil's advocate and say if you got the car for a really good deal, track it. As Benji said, a good road car is a fantastic base for a track car. Its a 330i, not an M3. There are loads of them around. Make a track car out of it, and sell the parts you strip out of it to recoup some costs. You'd probably get a decent amount of money for the interior pieces.
