I Bought My Dream Car

Hi everyone

So, after a few months of weighing up options in terms of cars, I have finally decided to pull the trigger on one.

I was deciding between the F30 320i (both N20 + B48), 320d as well as the E90 335i since at the time I knew an F30 335i would have been out if the question due to it being well over R300k. I had thought that I’d end up with an F30 320i (B48) to the point that I test drove one that I was interested in and nearly ended up buying it. However, while still thinking about it, I had a look at my autotrader emails and my dream car was for sale within my budget via private sale. Immediately went to view it and test drive it, and that’s when I knew that I wouldn’t find a deal as good as this one again and I bought it.

2015 BMW F30 335i M-Sport
-Alpine White
-121 000km
-19 Inch Wheels
-Gloss Black Kidney Grills
-Harman Kardon Sound
-Cruise Control
-Pro Nav
-Sunroof
-Dual Zone Climate Control
-Black Leather M-sport seats
-Brake Assist
-LED Headlights
-Paddle Shifters

I only fetched it on Monday afternoon after work. The feeling of owning my dream car at 25 hasn’t sunk in yet as I still look at it for a few minutes every night before going to bed. It is daily driven and I am absolutely enjoying it. I currently have no mods on it, however I will tune it in due time.

From what I’ve heard and researched, the N55 EWG is a fairly reliable engine. I am aware that one of the major problems with these cars are the chargepipe which I do intend to replace with an aluminum one soon. I do plan on keeping this car for a very long time, and I would like to know what are the possible issues I may face with it and what may need to be replaced as a preventative measure, as well as the cost for each replacement.

Thanks In advance guys

Congrats on achieving the goal

Wishing you many happy miles and smiles.

Only bit of advise I'd give is get the oil.done every 7500 to 10k max on the car and obviously the charge pipe as well.

If you looking for quality accessories and a quality charge pipe, hit Rennzport up on 065-950-6027.

Enjoy it and keep safe

Congratulations 🎉

As a ballie, I have to advise those in their 20s to consider an advanced driving course just to get to grips with handling a powerful RWD car in dangerous conditions.

Will also help your insurance as well.

Sage advice here! I never paid the “Indian male under 25” tax because of advanced driving courses and an insurer that factored that into their model 👍🏽

Don’t fall into the trap of turning your TC off on normal roads… minor changes in conditions or surface can send you into the bush. As good as it is it also won’t save you from total stupidity even if it is on.

Also somewhat on this note always have proper tyres. They don’t have to be the most expensive but don’t fit rubbish. Generally if someone is chiming in with a low effort comment like “I’ve never had a problem with <insert dogshit here> on <insert totally different car and use case> ignore it. You will spot these types of things in almost all discussions or posts when researching things. That will probably be the most useful advice: sort though advice carefully because in 2024 apparently you can’t call people out on these views anymore 😂

Congrats bud and happy miles ahead. At 25, I can't imagine your insurance premiums for such a car 🤔

Congratulations on your purchase and wishing you many safe miles and smiles! Echoing advice already given, Zwartkops also has a monthly track and skidpan event called Supertrax which is reasonably priced and really accessible with lots of more experienced drivers keen on helping and advising where necessary

(I'm assuming you're based in GP but if you're not, the closest track to you will probably have similar events)

Congrats on an exceptional car. Extremely well spec'd.
As said above, Advanced Driving Course would be highly beneficial, and definitely worth the price to have that additional experience under your right foot.

Look at buying yourself an MHD Universal WiFi Adapter, this will allow you to read codes on the car, and be able to diagnose issues or Error lights. and with the amount of different apps out there, you can do a lot of work yourself, Coding, Tuning, diagnostics etc. get to grips with learning that, and you'll be good to go.
Firi provides good stock, and Xcede has a good reputation as stated, and do a very thorough health check.

Good luck with the car and many happy miles, keep updates coming.

Congrats bud wish you many happy kms!

I would get it booked in to a BMW specialist in your area for a full once over.

Book a gearbox service with ZF asap as once you pass a certain point it won't be possible. I think 120k kms is still okay to have this done but ZF will test first.

Congratulations bud! As mentioned above, be safe and go do an advanced driving course or at the very least test the car in a controlled environment (track day or skidpan). It will prevent you from sliding into a ditch backwards...we tend to take more risks when we are younger...speaking from experience unfortunately LOL
