F80 gearshift noise

Good morning guys,

I'm kinda new into my F80 (4 months) so would appreciate some help with a noise I'm hearing when stop/start is activated when stopping. I hear a slight noise on my gearshift.

I have been at the dealership asking about it but they reckon it's normal. Below is was their response:

"The noise is from the park lock that engages when the start stop kicks in.

Regrettably its normal operating noise, and no repair will eliminate the noise".

Anyone out there having the same experience?

Any chance you could get a clip of the noise so I can confirm whether I have it or not?

There is definitely some clunkiness to the gearbox, but I can't say I've noticed noises related to the start-stop.

Thanks for the reply, yes it's definitely a clunkiness. I'll make a video when I'm home next week.

I coded the stop start out so haven’t heard it in awhile but I do remember having the click / clunk sound when it engaged (or was it when it fired back up, I can’t remember)

I even think sometimes I used to feel the “gear selector” move / react at the same time it happens.

If you switch off the stop/start function and all is well i wouldn't stress about it, I had mine coded out by default, stop/start is only active if i want it to be by pressing the button

Thanks for your reply guys, yes I deactivate it as soon as I get into the car. I just needed to know if it was in fact normal. Appreciate all the replies.
