Good afternoon gents.

I'm still quite new to the forum. I bought a 1999/2000 e39 528i manual a few months ago. I'm still learning a lot about these cars and trying to do DIY's as much as possible to learn a little more.

Recently replaced the clutch. Was wonder if anyone could point me in the direction of a "short shifter" as the throw feels extremely long.

I was also hoping someone here can tell me where I could find a new/used front bumper.

Any advise on what to keep an eye on mechanically? I would like to get the car back to its former glory.

Also, who supplies VANOS seals?

If anyone is willing to share some e39 knowledge with me, I'd really appreciate it.

I'll post pictures soon. Just need to get the car properly cleaned first.

I have spent about 45 including the cars price worked out I'm going to need to spend another 25 to finish up with detailing soo wat would u suggest

Actually this is not bad, depending on the condition of the car etc, they are fairly rare and are probably going up in value at this point. I would say a clean 540 manual is probably worth close to 80k?

Ive always wanted an E39 M5 and when I saw a 540i manual come up for sale at a low price, I figured it wouldnt hurt to go have a look at it. One thing led to another and the car ended up in my congested driveway. The car looked a bit neglected but had been well looked after until quite recently. No timing chain noises etc and the car pulls strongly. Front of the car has been badly repainted due to an exploding fan, but no signs of accident damage. Missing front spoiler, fender liners and needs typical E39 stuff done to it. Going to slowly bring her back to a respectable condition amongst my other projects. Basic maintenance, preventative maintenance and suspension overhaul are first on the list. Also looking for beige sports seats if anyone has

New owner of a 2001.10 build date E39 M5 , courtesy of my dad selling it to me for a steal.

Needs some good TLC , and the ABS trifecta lights being an issue , but other than that it's still immaculate.

That sounds like a great idea! , I'll get a thread started and try share some history but more importantly start a "blog" of all the work being done , I want to get her back to showroom condition and ALL OEM.
