I did an EGR "delete" along with swirl flap removal when doing Stage 1 software at Mosports Performance aka MPD

This is not quite the same thing. A proper EGR delete involves removing the entire EGR system from the car, thus removing the EGR cooler and all associated hardware as well.

@OP I could not source locally when doing an EGR delete on my 330d,but you can order a kit from Darkside in the UK.

Better to just get it coded out along with a stage 1 software package I'd think

This still leaves the cooler intact which may start leaking in the future and turns into a R8k expense should you decide to replace it.Ask me how I know lol

I understand so yes.
So basically getting the "blank off" kit is a better option long term?

The way I understood it with the coding out of it is that the system is not used in any case and made redundant?
Or would the blank off kit be a better option overall?

With software you only blank the workings of the EGR valve itself,so it doesnt open to allow carbon/soot from passing into the intake, but coolant still passes through the EGR cooler as it did from factory, which is not needed anymore.

The coolers tend to leak as time goes on,so removing the EGR system completely and installing a blanking kit is without a doubt the best option for longevity.

I am also looking for a egr delete kit for my F30 N47n motor. I have been to a local manufacturer of egr delete kits for Fords and Toyotas here in CT but they are in the process of altering their workshop and will only be open again end of this month (July). I was going to ask them to use my car as a sample car to make a local egr delete kit and hope they will be willing to do it. I intend to advertise on this forum for any one looking for a kit in order to get them interested in making kits for BMW's as well. The kits they make for Ford and Toyota is much simpler than for example the N47 motor as ours need to fill certain holes where there are not available bolts to hold the plugs (google the N47n kits to see what i mean) whereas the Ford and Toyota kits i saw at their workshop office was only sort of blanking plates which was available for very little money. I do not want to guess the cost of a local N47 kit if they should agree to make one but i am sure it would be much cheaper than R1500 which the imported ones go for (or used to go for) I am guestimating now, so please bear with me. If any of you guys are interested in a local kit, please contact me so i can try and convince them to make kits for our cars.
