High Mileage M240i

Hi guys

I've had my eyes on the baby M cars for years and I'm keen to sell my Golf soon for one of them! In a perfect world where cars aren't so expensive, I'd buy an M2 and be on my way. Unfortunately, all baby M cars in SA don't come with LSD's. Thus, my plan is to buy a M240i and get a M Performance LSD fitted.

Does anyone here have high mileage M240i's and if yes have anything to look out for when looking for one?

Apologies if I have posted in the wrong forum.

Thanks for the ads guys.

Quick question, which year did apple car play come out in the M2 and M240i? Im assuming the "longer" screens have the apple car play.

2018 (LCI models) onwards had car play but it was not standard so you would need to check that the option was ticked.

With regards to higher mileage cars if the owner did a lot of highway miles then (in my mind) it's actually a lot better for the car than a lower mileage car that was sitting in stop go traffic. My old M2C on the highway was superb drove it down to CT a few times and it barely ticked over, but when driving in traffic it always ran hotter and being a manual was not great for the clutch (not sure about DCT?).

There's no accurate way to determine what the milage mix is (highway vs town) but a good indication would be too look at the service internvals if it went in on time vs milage or even call the previous owner. I know some cars have a record of engine running time in hours that you can pull from the dealers not sure if BMW does this

Just have at least R50k in reserves for some WCGW and a decent warranty, then you’re good to go; this isn’t a Suzuki or Honda.

Hi @DavidL , I have a clean, well-looked-after, 2017 M240i for sale. DM me if you are keen. @FiRi@Rennzport can vouch for me hopefully :)

From my personal experience with my pre lci m240i which I sold on a 105000kms,(had TU Pump,Intake,Downpipe and MHD daily driven, and working at BMW Dealership for the last 10 years the B58 Engine is a very solid and reliable platform.
I had zero issue with m240i, which is why I never bothered to extend plan on my current M140i.
