Im considering selling my Boxster. I've got a very good ,albeit provisional offer, from Webuycars. In two minds , giving up on a special car and regretting it in the future .

I just read your thread...what a story. I know it's over now but yo, R166k bill and with how you were pretty much blocked in any other direction is crazy...almost sinister. Glad it's over and you've been enjoying the car. Make tour pros and cons list, flip a coin and see how you feel regarding the outcome. The one year warranty on the box is up now right, are you nervous about that? I wouldn't blame you.

I don't think the Boxster 2.7 model will keep its value as well as the other models. Demand for S, GTS and definitely Spyder will keep those models' values strong.

If you are looking to get maximum price for your car, now would be a good time to sell.

However, the question is who to sell to. The luxury dealers, like Carbon Black Auto, etc may be worth trying.

Sadly, a Porsche out of warranty is a minefield, unless you know a good independent workshop. Even then, parts are not always cheaper.

Well, atm I've seen early 981 base models selling for 500k plus. Webuycars are offering 30k less than what I originally paid for it 3 years ago. So values are not too bad currently. Obviously not as good as the S and Gts models.
I haven't got a replacement in mind. Currently neck deep in home renovations, so have to be a bit prudent for the foreseeable future

Just a quick update. After giving me a good provisional offer ,webuycars did a inspection of the car and gave me a lowball final offer which was significantly lower than their original offer. Needless to say i told them I'd rather keep my car.
I tried Wheelee, who sent a representative to view. They found a buyer who is willing to pay almost what I originally paid for the car and much more than original webuycars offer. Im currently waiting for them to settle the finance and pay the balance into my account after which I'll release the car.

That seems to be a common tactic...

On my Cayman, the guy said that the rear fenders were badly painted, when they were never painted. He said there are little dimples in the paint that only the trained eye could see. He then opened the doors and said that the hinges show that the doors were replaced.

Back in 2017, when they assessed my 2013 Audi TT they said the same things. "Your doors were replaced, panels repainted, you are basically driving a sh1tbox.."

Damn, those guys irritated me.

I got almost 20% more from the Weelee final price vs the WBC initial offer before inspection. Don't even want to know what WBC would have offered on viewing lol.

Nothing definite for now. My main priority atm is to complete home renovations, afterwards I'll start looking around for my next car.
Mx5 is a great car and a possible option or i could wait longer and save up for a late 997 Carrera.

Just saw my car for sale on Autotrader. Dont know if i should kick myself for letting it go for so much less than they currently want for it or if they will actually get someone who'll pay that?

I think they may struggle to sell at that price. That price is only appropriate for a car being sold by Porsche Pre-owned dealers.

I've been in Joburg the past week. Used the time to view a few cars, 2 Porsche 997s and a M235i. Nothing really caught my fancy, but I'm in no rush

Im seriously considering a M235i (F22). After looking around for a decent Porsche 997 I came to the conclusion that the few relatively affordable ones are just too much of a gamble to take.

Anything specific I should look out for with regards to the 235i ?

M235i/240i are great cars, especially as daily drivers and fun cars.
But if this is going to be your toy car, then maybe go for something a little more exotic - maybe a full fat M car (if needs allow).

Unfortunately a 240i would be a bit out of my budget. Always wanted a M car, but again, budgetary constraints and perhaps a certain bit of temperamentality ( con rod bearings etc)
