Hi all,

I was thinking if anyone else from the East Rand side is attending this event on Saturday, perhaps we could convoy there?

Just FYI that there is no food for sale at the venue. Best to take some snacks along and plenty of sunblock or an umbrella - no cover on the skidpan for spectators or while you wait for you turn.
Thanks for the heads up.

Was a great day out.
Results below.
Average of 6 runs, with only best 5 counting towards the average.
Time penalties are awarded for hitting cones or missing the route.

The wife and I used the X3 (2018 20d), highlighted below.

I will post a full write up of how the X3 performed vs my Polestar (Sept skidpan results). Spoiler alert - the X3 was quickero_O

Important to note that the skidpan surface enabled (rather promoted) drifting and that was really cool, but does not result in quicker gymkhana times. This explains why some higher powered cars didn't make the top of the list.

Haha. I couldn’t care about the time I was just having fun drifting the E92 M3 😜😂

I think even if you cared about the time it will he hard to beat a Nissan 1400 or Toyota Conquest around there with an M3 bud 😁

On a serious note though the faster the car the harder these things are.

The lady with a 320d really impressive 👏

Agree.
Even the course directors said you can either have fun or go quickly round the course, can't do both. The drifting looked cool.

Agree.
Nissan Champ driver drove an old IS250 Lexus last time and cracked the top 3. An old guy, but it excellent driver.

Definitely was a good day out.

Had some fun, and wasn’t too bad in the big tank of an RS4. Felt nimble enough, and enjoyed the sessions on the Skidpan.

On another note, the X3 with those proper off-road tyres was impressive albeit in a very ‘entry level’ off road track.
But did enjoy the capabilities, and it did handle all those obstacles with ease.

They didn't have the axle twister course this time but last time they took us on that. Was impressed with the X3 balancing on 2 opposite wheels.
The instructor told us that there is a Namibia Dune Experience that BMW runs with these X3s

You either have fun or go for a good time. I opted for the former

Also this tank took like 3 seconds just to do the 360 power was a disadvantage here.

Next run I’m taking the JCW for sure.
