Interesting test on the track and on sprinting, braking.

911 has only 283kw/450Nm.
M3 Comp has 375kw/650Nm.

The 911 is cheaper on paper, but we know that options need to be added to get a decent car. Same story with M3 too. So, about R2m more or less for either.

Very interesting that just a C2S is such a capable car when you get beyond the paper specs. You will find that most fanatics believe the M3 needs to be compared to the GTS or even the Turbo...

From what Matt Watson said, the M3 is the trickier car to drive fast. So, can be argued maybe that the 911 base is just too clinical. M3 may give more thrills, especially to those who have professional driving skills.

I recall Deon Joubert's comments in January Car Magazine Performance Issue, when he tested the M3, he said that it was a better car for the skilled driver since you need to learn its ways and it will reward you.

I guess for most drives, the AWD M3 may be the real 911 Carrera 2 killer...

Interesting how closely matched they are (given how different they are!), however it does feel, as it always does, that at this sharp end of the market it's very, very difficult to look past a 911. Particularly given how well they've done on residual value in the past. If the new M3/4 depreciates like older ones it'll be losing value at probably 1.5-2x as fast as a 911 will. keen to see the C4S vs M3 4wd reviews as well!

I think this is the case.
AWD makes that extra power easier to use.

Would be great to a see a review of the C2S and AWD M3.

Sounds about right, I feel bmw M cars give more thrills while still being able to push the limits and take the fight to the likes of Porsche, for a family sedan to run so close to a Porsche on a track that's a big plus.
