discussion Stepping out of my F80 for a G20 340i......good choice?

Yes it is a good choice, however don't expect same power especially top end. Make no mistake the m340i is fast, but it's a different kind of fast compared to F8x M cars.
Price wise the M340i was a better decision for me because the technology in the car is the latest, it had four doors compared to my m4, it still feels very fast, I am sure its making more than 285kw than bmw claimed.
The steering wheel feel for me could be better, sport is too heavy, if i am in sport individual mode the steering is set to comfort.
The car is very smooth, refined when cruising but turns into an animal in sport plus or individual.
If I told you what cars i trashed on the road with my m340i I would cause a huge upset on the forum.
You won't get the same handling as an M Car, but Xdrive keeps the car in place all the time.
The cabin makes you feel at home.
It's a very good replacement for the F8x series because quite frankly the new M cars are over priced right now and I would wait another year or two for prices to be better on used G series M cars

I added the M Performance Exhaust as well and now I am happy with the exhaust note. The standard exhaust didn't do it for me. Overrun now more pronounced with pops and burbles.
I do think at some point I would want a downpipe but motor plan is the issue so will stay clear. As I have said in other threads the motor plan has become extremely valuable its not worth risking. I would of bought an A90 supra in that case

How is it painful as a daily?
I daily mine +- 140km per day and I love it. Nothing compares.
Different life stages mate, need a vehicle with more flexibility now

Loud for sure, the M340i does sound better though you can't deny that... If I may say it sounds better than the new M3 hehe

Dude, please share your kill list...I am very curious to check because from what I have seen...those g-series m340is can clean up damn well! In reality as an owner, I am sure it is making you proud!
Ok, few days with my 340i…..my views vs my F80.
1. Equal on performance without the drama, insane traction
2. 340 Exhaust note sound more classic BMW 6 cylinder….deep tones
3. 340i - Brilliantly smooth engine, the way it delivers power and accelerates almost doesn’t make sense…
4. Steering feel as numb as the F80
5. Brakes not as grabby as the F80
6. Looks understated …the F80 does look more aggressive
7. Interior on the F80 does look more special
8. Interior Tech and ergonomics as better on the 340
In summary, BMW has built a non track M3 for the robot warriors and I love it …no regrets
