Just my 2c, I would consider a 120d the coupe version.
I think this is a cool car to get the feel for rear wheel drive plus it’s quick.

Bonus maintenance is affordable.

BRILLIANT IDEA!
Assuming the 200k is for maintenance on it alone?!
Happy drifting, DK.

also what about a 125i with the NA 6cyl n52
if i were in your shoes, i would rather go for the 125i, much more reliable ( it runs the de-tuned 3.0 engine found in the e 90 330i ) it is fast but not as fast as the 135 and with your experience, safer to start with.

there are a couple of 125i around just search on autotrader, less 120d's, both great cars , both reliable, consumption wise the 120d wins hands down. best is test driving both and get the feel of the car's and take it from there. just look out, try and get that has full service history's and if you can get the vin number for a check here on the forum then should be good to go, take your time and check everything out, take someone with you if you could and share links, pics of something you have in mind, a lot of people here could help ( and some not )
Some links on 125i

some 120 d

So what's your budget for maintenance and repairs?
If you're going to keep aside the R40 - R60k from your budget when you buy a R140k - R160k 125i, then you should be fine.
If not, then I hope you have a nice disposable income for the little surprises a high mileage car is going to send your way.
