I'm looking to upgrade the intercooler on my 120d but curious as to which route to go. I think the obvious choice would be an N57 or N54 intercooler but I'm not sure which one would be better. From a numbers perspective I'm assuming the N54 has a much better intercooler but I want to know if my car can make use of that extra cooling or if an N57 will be more than enough. I'm currently on a tune with 150kW and 470nm.
I'm not looking for more power(though I can't say I'll never go for a new tune with the upgrade
) but I'm rather looking for more consistency. As it stands I can do a few pulls but then I feel the car stop pulling as hard. Tuner said he stopped at the current power because my intake temps were getting a bit high.
Would the N57 be the better choice or should I fork out some extra for the N54 and would I need to do any kind of piping for the new intercooler or is it just plug and play?
