Hi Guys

Anyone know where I can get 3M VHB Tape in the centurion/Midrand area? Need for a friends rear spoiler

Most suppliers are closed, but not sure which other shops keep them on the shelf?

Thanks

Hi Guys

Tried a few Midas shops with no luck

Eventually got lucky with Duwayne from Layne Industries, very helpful guy they are closed for December but he made a plan to fetch 4 x different sizes for me to pick from. If you guys ever need some 3M tape give him a call on 082 811 8090

I'm bringing up a very old post since I find myself needing the elusive 3M tape. My boot spoiler is lifting up when exposed to the sun for long periods. Not easy to source this tape, but found the supplier in Edenvale (Layne Industries) as mentioned here. Preferred a supplier closer to Centurion or Midrand, but that's difficult to find.

Anyways, there are many different types of the 3M tape. Which would be the best for the boot spoiler?

3M VHB?
What size? 6mm?

3M VHB is the best but only the best if the surface is properly prep'd, clean the surface, remove contamination, then use an adhesive promoter so that the 3M sticks like snot to a KOP.

As for the size that is based on the spoiler you have, I bought two sizes back in the past one was thick enough to run the length of the spoiler and the other was thinner for the narrow parts of the spoiler. I then used Victor Reinz Silcone to seal the edges of the spoiler (Tip from Firi at Renzsport).

What I also found out is that gloss black spoilers are kind of plastic-eee and flimsy so i ditched it and got a carbon fibre spoiler (this was on the M340i). I still prefer carbon fibre and that is why I have it on my M2 today they sit better and firmer as well

Hope this helps

I ripped out the boot spoiler (came off very easily). Had the Sellotape brand double sided tape. Was super easy to even remove the tape off the boot and the spoiler.
Reapplied the boot spoiler using the Gorilla brand (heavy duty version), after seeing a guy on YouTube using the same.
It works great, no issues now.
