If they are charging you for diagnosis, you can ask for a courtesy car (though, there may be conditions with that)I contacted zf Durban. Unfortunately they are not able to help. Rex gearbox stated that they would be able to work on it. So that's an option.
Meanwhile Porsche are going to check if the control unit ( mechatronic or control valve) is the problem. This may take awhile as they need a donor part to fit and test , before ordering a new one.
I must say that my service advisor as been very sympathetic and helpful
I didn't ask. Didn't want to use up all potential goodwill, lol!If they are charging you for diagnosis, you can ask for a courtesy car (though, there may be conditions with that)
Yup. Was a little worried as the Porsche dealership is close to Cornubia but thankfully nothing happened.I guess with the current issue in KZN, the car is being kept safe in the workshop?
what is wrong with it?Got some bad news. Porsche says the transmission as to be replaced @ R166k!
Still digesting this info and trying to think of a way forward. Unfortunately they not offering any goodwill, so I'm up the creek without a paddle!
bearings, clutches? mechanical breakage?what is wrong with it?
To be fair to them, they did try a different ecu and played around with the software but to no avail. They are not authorized to open up the transmission. More sad and disappointed than angry that they didn't offer any goodwill seeing that the car has only 76k on the clock and has only been serviced by them ( the car was originally purchased new from them). Anyway the original warranty expired awhile back, so I don't have a leg to stand on.Sad turn of events. I have been curious to see how this turned out. Could they offer no opinion/stab at a root-cause for this failure? I mean you parked the car and woke up with this problem, right? Pity also that they will not offer any goodwill on this... even on labour. That is a steep bill by any measure. Out of interest is that the cost of the parts or the entire cost of the repair?
well this is the thing man unless one cant use logic with these cars but if it was driving fine how can there be mechanical damage...clutches being damaged i can understand....my mechatronic caused my clutches to burn out because of temp control with a wet system. We changed the mechatronic and car wouldnt drive properly because previous mechanic loaded the wrong software and damaged the new clutch set...i argued that it cant be the clutches as i had changed it..popped another new set of clutches with right software and boom....gearbox sorted. all im saying is youll need the mechatronic replaced anyway why not try fixing it and getting new clutches first before getting a new box...your call.Sad turn of events.
