technical F30 display/head unit issues

Dear Fanatics. How is everyone doing?

Sitting with an issue and need guidance/assistance please. Yesterday my music stopped playing for a few seconds and then my display got stuck on the BMW logo. Switching car off and on made no difference. Read up about it and the solution for some was to hold volume button down for 30 seconds to reboot the head unit. Unfortunately it doesn't reboot for me. My music still plays, but I can't skip tracks or switch over to radio etc. Model F30 328i 2014. What else can I try or should I take it to someone to try a software update/reset?

From what I would suspect as a novice, this would be hardware related and require a part change. What model of head unit do you have? Is it possible to reset the unit to factory standard? This will require repairing your devices etc. But might help if it’s not hardware related.

I’m hoping it’s not hardware related as that gets costly. Waiting to see who can assist.

I stand to be corrected but think this is a issue with the unit itself and would require a repair or replacement.
Not sure if a software update would help you(suspect not) but we can do that if you want

You need a new head unit or have to get yours fixed, Combined Electronics repair these

Gave them a call and they said their main objective will be to try and revive it otherwise replace it. I’m just struggling to get my car there as they open after I start working and close before I knock off in the evenings.

My m135i did the same thing...sent it in to bmw .. the guy said that just leave the car and the unit will reboot itself and I left my car a day at the dealership and the next day it was fine...issue never came up again

It’s finally sorted. Took them a few weeks to fire it up again. Went to collect it, but my Bluetooth audio didn’t work. Next day it bombed out again. Sent it back and took them a couple weeks again to fit it up. Fetched it last week Tuesday and all working so far.
