Also, check Vanos Bolts are tight and not loose.
Inspection 2 gets utterly neglected by ALL dealers. They should change your diff and gearbox fluid but they never do. Look in your owners manual toward the back, even there they say it's an inspection 2 item.
What Chris says here is very important to keep the car running tip top. Vanos in general needs attention on these cars at some point, and the shims do wear out so the valve clearance needs to be measured and adjusted.
However, I don't think any BMW dealer is capable of or have the skill to do any of these items. Even if they attempt it they will probably screw it up. Not to be the bearer of bad news but that's just the way it is.
What you could probably get form them are new pads/rotors for your front and or rears. And if you're lucky a new clutch.
My extension cost me R13k which I paid for 2 reasons.
It increases resale value.
And the front rotors and pads alone nearly covered that.
I've also had rear brakes, spark plugs, oils, coolant flush, brake fluid flush and some other things I can't recall now done under mplan. So if you use it it does kind of pay for itself. I can't wait for mine to go out of motorplan. Then I can really start taking good care of it. There are endless amounts of info out on the web about how reliable these motors are. Nothing catastrophic will go wrong with them, unless you force it to. If by some random chance a PS or AC pump goes then it could have been on any car you owned so you can't blame the car.
If you don't come right the first time, book it in again until they replace what you want. It worked for me
