Hi Member's

So this morning when I started my love I was greeted by a scary Beep and found this,

I knew this light as it came on when the Xenon light needed to be replaced (Car was under MP so didn't really worry about cost)

I did a quick test and found that the Drivers side Park Light is Burnt and called BMW Midrand and got quoted R499 for just one globe :fencelook: :argh:

I always replace parts no mater what it is even globes from the Agents in the past but im shocked at the price of this globe and its not even a Xenon or white light its just a small globe that gives out a yellow light.

Is there an option for an aftermarket globe? not looking for a spares shop cheap knock off but something good but not that expensive!

I told the guy if it was for 2 I would buy it but just for one, that is crazy + he says he can't load a discount :flyfun:

Thanks

Replacing light bulbs with agents? No dude far too much money. Go get a normal osram bulb or Philips bulb from a spares shop should be like R30. If you are however part of any society’s that require you to replace with 100 original then bite the bullet and pay R400.

haha, I just feel better knowing everything in my car is 100% original.

I will get the globe out tomorrow, looks like I have to remove the wheel and then remove a cover to get to the light housing.

R499 is way to much :nonono: blady rip off, unless they supply and fit it at that price :fencelook:

I replaced mine recently. You don’t need to remove the wheel to get to the light. Just twist the steering to the full lock and there is just enough space to change the bulb.

The bulb is a 10w BA9S bulb...normal stores don’t store this and if you get a lower wattage you will get an error code. Auto X-cessorize( on the forum stock these). got mine about 2 months ago and very happy.

The reason BMW's price is so crazy is that it is a bulb plus the bulb holder. To get the bulb out wasn’t that hard though. These are a couple websites that show that you need to file the holder. I filed my holder slightly to get the bulb clips to slide in smoothly

At Full Lock I see two clips that I can open but looks like a tight squeeze and there are 2 more clips that I will not get too as the tire is in the way, how did you get around this?

How much did the bulb cost and what do you mean you had to file it?

Thanks

There are only 2 clips on my car. I used a R5 coin to open these. I managed with a bit of difficulty to change the lights, using access from both the wheel well and the bonnet. Removing the wheel would definitely make it easier though.

I think the bulb was R50.

To remove the bulb you need to treat it as a normal clip on light bulb, so slightly down, unscrew and pull out. The clips sit right up against the bulb holder and so the new bulb might have slightly longer clips and so some filing will be required to get that it.

Hope that helps.
