Z4 M Coupe Alternator

Hi all

The previous owner of my car replaced the voltage regulator on the alternator, but it looks like they have used the wrong part and it gives me a 2E7C code. On further inspection, I found the alternator connection plug dangling in the engine bay and the wires have been spliced with only one wire connected to the voltage regulator.

Does anyone have the wiring diagram for the alternator, would really like to get it back to OEM?

The next question should I leave it because it’s working!

The OP doesnt make sense, how can the plug be dangling but has a wire connected to the alternator...?

I recently replaced the regulator on my alternator and it only had one pin in the plug - the old regulator had 2 pins, but there is only one wire that connects to it so doesnt make any difference, havent checked to see if I get that error

Awe Benji - yeah I hear you not totally clear. Are you running a z4m ? My car had that 2e7c when i got it - the only BitSerial comm on the z4m is the Alternator, when you swap out the regulator and check codes, it would be interesting to hear if the 2e7c came up. I'll check my alternator cables this weekend too and see if I can pick up anything significant! best regards
