Hi guys,

I have an xbox elite for a few years now, and i have always wanted to get it 'chipped' or 'flashed' as they say, but i was always scared of the RROD, has anyone here chipped their xbox, and has there been any issues with it?

Thanks for the help guys.

I flashed my Xbox once.
Got the red light, so it ended there. Couldn't even play.

:fencelook:
Or was that my ex's box.
Can't remember now.

I had mine flashed and touch wood running it a few years now and no problems,
Only disadvantage was not being able to play online with a flashed xbox.

My is the resident evil edition(red 1), so not the elite 1....

Had it chipped, played bunch of games and no problem...

I only play NBA2K game, so they just do an update and I can play it online:=):

my xbox has been flashed. Running for about 3/4 years now as well. RROD has nothing to do with flashing. Flashing is simply upgrading the firmware of the dvd drive (usually a benq drive) that allows it to read any disc. RROD is caused by overheating

First thing I did when I got my xbox was get an external cooling fan because as Gerald said rrod is caused by overheating. It's been flashed since new and haven't had a problem at all. Also about 4years now.
