X5 performance chips

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum.

I'm currently on my 3rd BMW, my first being a '97 M3, and more recently an '01 325i touring, and now an '07 X5 4.8i. Love/loved all 3 cars to bits.

I have a question...

Can anyone recommend somewhere in the Cape Town area to supply and fit a performance chip for my X5. I'm looking for an eco mode as well if possible.

You won't get much performance gain on a NA engine. And if you wanted economy you probably shouldn't have bought a V8!

Rather spend the money on ensuring that your engine is properly maintained and running 100% - nothing else will reduce fuel consumption on that NA V8 by any significant margin.

If anyone promises you a fuel saving chip for your car, hide your wallet...

I absolutely loved my 4.8i V8 X5... she was an absolute beast and loved the power and sound and luxury.... but didn't love the almost 20l/100km fuel consumption.

I agree with the above comments - I don't think that there is any chip that will be able to deal with the fuel consumption that you are probably encountering, but some good maintenance will be your best bet.

I didn't hang on to her long enough to really prove how much better the consumption could get with some maintenance.
