Hi I just bought a 2010 BMW X5 e70. The guy had a aftermarket towbar fitted. Since then the PDC and traction control warnings are on. What can I do to make everything work again. Thanks

Could be that the wiring on the tow bar is faulty. Trace the wiring from the tow bar plug and determine which is which and where they are connected to. There should be a small electrical box about the size of a 20's cigarette packet (mine is white but could be black as well). The wiring from the tow bar plug should go into this box and from this box to the left and right indicator, the brake lights and the park lights. There is also a wire going to the positive on the battery as well as an earth wire. That is about it for the standard tow bar. There is apparently i think a seven wire plug on some tow bars but not sure how that is wired. Could also help if you take the car to a tow bar installer (Hi-Q, Supaquick, etc). Must admit, i have not towed much since i fitted mine but there is a button on the dash to cancel the PDC if it is a problem. Not sure why the traction control is on though!
