X5 3.0d Starting problem

Hi Guys
Hope somebody can help me. My X5 3.0d 2003 model has intermittent starting problems. It started of by occasionally not starting and if left for a while it would start like nothing happened. Then more often it would not start. It would go well even for hours on long trips without any issues but if it is parked for about 1 hr 30 min it would not start then after about 40 min it goes again.

The diagnosis came up as speed sensor and then my mech cleaned some sensor on the gearbox and it started again. Then the fault code came up as 1260 presupply pump. Had the pump taken out and tested and it works off the car with good pressure but we haven't tested the pressure. After the car starts we test again and the fault is 1260 again. Can it be the presupply pump, it's an expensive item so I'm reluctant to just purchase it without being sure.

Oh yes, I can hear the fuel pump sound when the ignition is ON but the car would just crank without firing up. Sometimes it gives a promise to start but then just cranks.

Little desperate to have it fixed before Christmas, really want to use it to the coast in a few days.

Did you get your issue sorted?

I also have a starting issue on my X5 that I'm trying to sort and have replaced the crank sensor and starter and still no luck.
