Hi guys,

I'm considering purchasing a 2012 X5 3.0d, it has 80 000kms with FSH at BMW. I've heard these cars are pretty reliable? Are there any major components i should worry about if i go ahead?

Hi,

Check for any turbo "whistle" on rapid acceleration will sound like a 'fan belt slip" and check all injectors, fuel rails, fuel pumps etc ..... if you can get confirmation on those items and that they are still fully functional that would be a big concern out the way, also obviously servicing as in when last were the fuel filters replaced, also gearbox oil change by for instance ZF and maybe an inspection????

They are generally solid motors. Mileage is also low on this particular vehicle. I would ask ZF to also service the transfer case while you at it.

Solid cars - just watch out for parking brake actuator- replacement part at BMW R16k,
If turbo is fine not much can go wrong, have had mine for more than 5 years.
