X35 Reliability

Hi all,

I am interested in getting a 335i.

I would be able to get an 07-09 model.

I have read that these engines have a few problems such as fuel pumps failures etc

What is the general concensus for their reliability after Mplan as I would most probably keep it for a year or 2 out of plan.

For those that have these year models how have they been?

Thanks :)

Mine is 2008, almost 120 000km.
Got a HP fuel pump and injectors, but otherwise no problems at all. Drive it relatively hard.
No motorplan anymore also.
But I'm gonna have trouble if something breaks.....

My 335 has been an epic car, but definitely the most unreliable BMW I've ever had. I wouldn't drive one out of motorplan.

My car started pinging since this week. no apparent reason. Tried different brand fuels. same.

@BD_O,

Care to expand....

Txs

Replaced in 70000km:

- HPFP x3
- Injectors
- Turbochargers x2
- Telematics control unit
- ECU
- Suspension bits and bobs
- Head had to be de-carbonised by blasting it with wallnut shells
- Oil leak

Worst bit is that BMW seems to be very clueless when it comes to troubleshooting problems on the N54, and they adopt a mostly trial-and-error approach.

Thats a whole lot of issues you had with your car...eish.

Agree with your statement above.

Tune your N54 and you will have less issues and more fun. :joy:

Sure. Things is, Friday seems to have been a very popular day for assembling 335s. :)
