X3 2.0d Bluetooth

Hi there,

Wondering if there are any kind people who can help me with the frustration I am currently facing.

My X3 was manufactured in Nov 2013 and while the display shows "connected Drive" it was apparently not installed fully until the next year model.

All I am trying to do is listen to audio books during my long hours on the road. Previously I used the audio jack into the centre console and it worked fine. Apple then brought out the Iphone & which no longer has the aux jack. They do provide an adapter but it has a poor quality connection and tends to play on one side of the car or the other, seldom on both sides.

I did some research on the net and it would appear that there is a software update that will allow the phone to connect via bluetooth for the phone (currently connecting fine) as well as audio.

I have spoken to BMW South Africa and had a complete mixed bag of replies ranging from "its impossible" to "The web page where we download this is down"

My questions are as follows;

Is there in fact a software update that will work to allow me to play music through the car system via bluetooth.

If there is a software upgrade does anyone have this. I believe it is only 8mb?

If the above solutions will not work will the bluetooth adaptor jacks that one can buy online where it plugs into the audio socket and your phone picks up the adaptor.

I do realise that there is a Snap in adaptor that you can buy from BMW but a bit wary to spend R 3700 only to find the next generation Iphone is no longer compatible.

Many thanks
Allan

Hi Allan,

I used one of these, works perfectly. Bought it for R160 at the China mall

I see this is an old post but might still help. I found the tune2air device. If i remember correctly the part number is WMA300B. It plugs into your aux as well as usb port and you can stream audio with no problems. It also does not interfere with your cars bluetooth and handles calls as normal
