X1 tyres interchangeable with 3 series sedan tyres

Hi

Does anyone know where normal tires for a 3 series sedan (17 or 18) would work on the corresponding x1 wheels. I have notice that the profile is slightly smaller (e.g. Front 225/45/17 vs 225/50/17).
