Good day fellow fanatics....
Looking to add to our BMW collection. Mrs interested in a x1 - seen a few 2011 and 2012s; both petrol and diesel; in our price range.... but mileage is 170 000kms plus... some have had timing chain and rails replaced by dealers...
Wife does minimal kms per day; 20-30kms per day - 5 days a week.
Thanks...don't want to buy myself into a problem.

Hi, I am not sure where The question is , what would you like to know?

If you can find one that has been maintained well and has a service history then your chances are better.
At that mileage I would also expect a diesel to be better as it will still run for many more KMs if it was maintained.

Good luck with the search!

Guess; it is about the risk of purchasing a "high mileage" x1 - petrol or diesel.

Thanks Coldfusion... much appreciated.

Yeah, thoughts are also on diesel even though the Mrs does short distances.

If you are looking to buy into a high miler (relatively speaking) buy 6 cylinders instead of the 4 cylinder coffee grinders BMW produces.
They are BAD.
