Who can read fault codes in Potchefstroom? Possible vacuum leak.

As per the title, I want to have my E36 323i's codes read in Potchefstroom. I think it has a vacuum leak - sometimes the revs hunt after starting it up and it has happened 2 or 3 times (in about 4 weeks' time) that I could hear a suction kind of noise. I'm going to clean the MAF and sprayed Q20 to try to find the leak, without success. I must admit I don't really know where to check/spray but want to have the codes checked to see if anything MAF or O2 sensors related turns up.

Have you checked the rubber boot just behind the MAF....very common for this to split with age. If it is a vacuum leak then it won't necessarily throw up a code but if it does then possible be a code for an O2 sensor to be thrown up

Thanks, will do. I've unplugged the MAF both during hunting revs and normal idle and it had no effect.

what year is it.

It might be ADS and not OBDII... which is going to make diagnostics harder.

Pre-facelift 1997 (manufactured late 1996).

Your good

OBDII, so most generic code scanners could help, or anybody with INPA.

Maybe and maybe not......not all BMW's this age had the OBDII functions activated. All in the States did but not the rest of the world. INPA would be the best bet  or carsoft would work too

Thanks, everyone.

@Rooi_willie: Thanks for your offer. My MAF cleaner is only coming on Monday but I'll check the hoses again this weekend. I'll let you know. How much does that transmitter and app cost? I take it a normal cable would be a bit cheaper.
