Which brand of fuel do you use...

Okay, so this thread is not about 93 v 95 RON (anyone "saving" R30 by using 93 are just losing out)but the brand of fuel...Shell, BP, Engen etc and why...Im asking because I've noticed that different brands have different qualities and makes my car perform differently. For example Shell gives me nothing special and burns as quickly as a pirate can down a bottle of rum. Engen usually gave me a max of 300km on ½ a tank and now BP gives me just over 300kms on ½ a tank...?? Has anyone else experienced similar?

I'll give that pirate a run for his money lol :biglol:

About the fuel, I personally have experienced better fuel economy on Shell V Power than Engen UL 95

I get better performance and consumption from Engen fuel. Used BP for about 3 tanks and after switching to Engen, I realised how sluggish BP was making my car.

Switched to Engen when a thread was created about Engen fuel and BMW engines.

I use sasol

I have a knock link sensor on my car and generally with other petrols the sensor detects knock quite quickly however with the SASOl petrol this doesn't seem to be as bad.

Ive only ever used sasol in all my cars, petrol and diesel

However, i was told to try the Shell diesel 50ppm a few weeks back as i was told it seems to give better consumption

So i filled up to the top and away i went

Got 870km on a tank (83 liter tank), and thats town driving and giving some umf inbetween aswell, so very impressed

I will see how it goes when i go down to PE at end of September on the long open road :)

I use Sasol. Works best on the e36 which can be sensitive to a little knock if your giving too much gas on low revs. Not also using Sasol on the e46 but have not tried any other yet. Not sure if I will bother experimenting though.

bp makes my car sluggish, shell definitely stronger response...but not much difference on the consumption? ive also tried all 3 brands since the other tread

The base fuel for almost all brands in Gaueng is from
Sasol. Each oil company then adds a absolute minute amount of their patented additive which again does not differ much between brands. Since petrol price is regulated it's all about saving costs so additives kept to a minimum. The differences fanatics experience is likely due to variables such as dirty fuel storage tanks etc.

I have been using engen for a couple of tanks, though I haven't noticed anything between different fuels, though I will say caltex gave me rubbish mileage, due to all the little people in it I guess :)

And I try not to fill up with sasol just out of principle.
