Hi peps,

Where can i get friction modifier in Jhb?

BMW sells diff oil called SAD_JX for R400+ p/n 83222282583.

This oil is basically Castrol SAF-XJ 75W-140 full syn, but they add a friction modifier to it and ask R400+ for a 450/500ml bottle :cursin::cursin::cursin:

Basically the friction modifyer allows the limited slip clutch plates to work smoothly without making a rubbing/grinding noise at low speeds when turning.

Are you talking about Castrol SAF-XJ 75W-140? It replaced Castrol SAF-XLS which the manual recommends...

SAF XJ for LS, fully synth oil and recommended by BMW. If LS you can also use Castrol LSX, a mineral based equivalent with LS additives, which is actually the direct replacement for the discontinued BP Limslip product. There used to be a Castrol product Multitrax GM/LS for LS diffs and actually OEM but this is a crap oil do not use
data sheet for lsd oil

you can get the saf xj from autozone for about r 100 for 500ml the lsx only comes in 5 liter containers just check on the container they do specify that it is for a lsd diff
