Where to find N57 engine serial number?

Hi Everyone,

Some advice required PLEASE, my 2006 E90 appears to have had a N57 motor fitted by a previous owner. I can clearly see the crank casing is an alluminuim block an not a M57 cast iron block.

The turbo variable vane servo motor worm drive stripped and now its a night mare in getting the correct speced turbo.

Any comments or suggestions most welcome.

The crank casing or the block is aluminium? All the 330ds came with alum crank casings afaik.

What I've read up on is that the N57 motor was introduced in 2008. My tractor is a 2006 model hence it should have an M57 motor.

If indeed the engine was swapped, the new number should appear on the Registration papers/License disc?
