Where do you buy games from?

Been scouting some of the online stores (kalahari, take2, etc) and they seem to have a much nicer variety of stock (and special editions, etc) and better prices than the average retail stores.

Usually when places like Musica, Incredible, etc have specials, their prices are also good, but they have very few title available.

So I'm just curious, where do you guys usually buy your games from.

Currently I get my games from two places:

1: Brightwater Commons market. Theres a guy there that sells games cheap cheap. Original titles, not stolen. Great Prices.

2: Bruma Lake Market: Theres a lady there that sells the games cheap as well. Original, not Stolen. Good Prices.

Ive seen some people selling original, non stolen games at the Traders Market opposite Kollonade Mall, Pretoria.

All of the above are in Gauteng.

In Durban I used to get my games at Wilsons Wharf. Theres a place there called Games.com thats sells games, original, not stolen, Cheap.

All of these guys sell new games.

BT games also sells games. If you search through their pre played (read: Second Hand) games, you can find some real gems at half the normal price, usually in excellent condition.

BT Games in Eastgate is having a huge sale, saw NFS shift 2 for R299. various other PS3 titles form R69 onwards.

This is going to sound weird but incredible connection!
If you can believe it Incredible Corruption (at least in Menlyn) has some fantastic prices on their games, and they often clear their stock and so if you want games older than 6 months you will usually find them there for nothing.
Also I should mention they often don't mark their products right, so you can walk aways with things like COD Black Ops (R500 retail) for R199 lol.

Otherwise if you have a killer internet account you can use Steam (www.steampowered.com): the games are dirt cheap there and they have specials every day. You will also never lose or scratch your CD's or save games, sine it is all stored on the Steam cloud for you. It also allows you to make some friends playing multiplayer, and manages things like updates and DLCs for you

Incredible Connection and Musica require some attention and luck, they can throw out some sneeky specials.

I usually order from Take2 for free delivery and decent prices. Whenever I'm out and I spot a BT Games I go in and look through their pre-played section, found some awesome PS3 games for under R100 so it's always worth a look.

@Hennie - There are plenty of guys who can mod consoles (XBOX 360) and sell you copied games, but I have never, and will never support this act of piracy. And I dont advise anyone to do so also....

Sure the games are much much cheaper, but its just plain out wrong. These guys are stealing from the developers and publishers. Those guys spend thousands of hours making and selling these games, most of the time sacrificing their family time to give us the best quality entertainment that we usually only play for a short while then move on to a new game. I think that its only fair that we do our part and buy original.

Most games come out a while after release in a "Platinum" title setup where they are sold very cheap. Or you could go to a small shop and get the same expensive titles for half the price.

I do not buy pirate games, but I dont allow myself to be ripped a new one by the profit mongers (big stores). I rather buy original titles from those lil shops cos they are not aiming at making a killing on every game. They rather rely on repeat customers. R250 per game twice is better than R400 per game once.

All of these arguments go the same for pirated dvds. I see the movie in the cinema, or buy it original from someone not trying to rip me off.

All this said, I am not well off by any means. I sympathise with those who cant afford to go to the movies often, or buy the expensive titles, but lack of money is no excuse for stealing (Which buying and supporting pirated goods is).

@Hennie, this was not a dig at you. Please understand.

Sorry if I offend anyone. I am not in the film or game industry. I gain nothing financially from promoting original buying. I just feel very passionately about this topic. Please understand my honesty.

X max i Refuse to buy pirate games for my ps 3 mine are all originals i rather wait till i have bucks to treat myself then i buy a new game that's why i still don't have gt5 in my collection
i just know of the okes that do the programing and sell the pirate games as i stay 3km from boksburg flea market and go there regularly i also understand once you do that and get put a original game in the ps3 you will have to take it back to reprogram to play a pirated game so whats the use of doing it

@Hennie - Good to know. If what I said appeared as though it was an attack on you, I apologise as that was not the case. I was simply airing my views about piracy.

I know of quite a few places that offer these modding services. In fact on a few occasions, when buying my Xbox 360 games I was advised that I should mod my 360 for R700 and ill get 5 games of my choice for free, and pay R50 per game afterwards. I told the dude that I dont believe in piracy, and he tried to give me a hard time. I told him that I would report him to the police, which shut him up.

Also, if you want to play online, you cant with pirate titles. you need the original titles to play online.
