Hi guys,
Anyone know where I can have front wheel bearings fitted in and around the Randburg area.

I have a more pronounced humming noise coming through when slowing down. This can also be heard when traveling at a constant low speed

Thanks guys

PS. Dealer wanted R1925 incl VAT for the complete hub assembly. I should also take off a further 25% off

Please help

I have also got the humming or howling type of sound on my car. it normally starts up when road surfaces change I think. I dont hear it often when I accelerate, and it wont stop when I take the car out of gear so I dont think its drivetrain related.
Can it be anything other than tyres? Does that describe wheel bearings noise?

I have new tyres on, non RFT

Jerry, try a different tyre. Tyres are known to be noisy and not when they new, always after some Km's. Test that before changing the bearings?

Otherwise, the price you got from BM seems pretty reasonable, i would just do it at BMW if its not the tyres.

I would offer my wheels, but my tyres are noisy also...

My original pair of Conti RFT's on the front were very noisy and sounded just like worn wheel bearings. Had the tyres checked and indeed there was quite a bit of heel and toe wear near the shoulders. Fitted new tyres and was as silent as it should be...

I gather you have narrow/wides, otherwise I would say swap the wheels front to rear and see what happens.
