If you wanna go pro environment then you need to go for 50ppm

In layman's terms you can regard sulphur in diesel just like lead in petrol, except that lead is added and sulphur is part of the process in crude oil.
So from a performance point of view you can boost a 500ppm running engine a bit more than a 50ppm running engine and the exaust gasses stink a bit more like Sulfid but thats all.

Sulphur breaks down oil. So sulphur in diesel degrades the effectiveness of your oil over time... your service interval is calculated on 50ppm diesel.

Sulphur is a lubricant and does help with lubrication in items like the fuel pumps and injectors. But there are additives that increase the lubrication of diesel included in the fuel. Modern diesels are designed to run on this fuel and teflon coatings on wear items and such make up for the less lubrication.

If you are worried about lubrication rather use 50ppm and an additive.
