What Coolant to use

So my water coolant light on my 2002 E46 320i comes on and goes of randomly.

first thing i noticed when dipping my finger into the Expansion tank, there is Just water and no coolant.

assuming someone forgot to add coolant OR someone just threw water in OR there was a leak that was fixed and no coolant used etc etc etc

So before i think its sensor, the Cooling system is probably not been bled

I plan to do this myself tomorrow after the service is done (Saving money by doing DYI's on the easy things is no problem but a pLUS)

What Coolant do you suggest i use?
Obviously BMW BLUE coolant has been offered to me but have any of you guys used other coolants that gets the job done just as well?

Any of you used Pertamina Rad coolant? (Green in colour)

NOTE: I have searched and ncould not find... Apologies if this is a repost. assistance to redirect to the other post will be appreciated

thanks in advance

why not just buy from bmw directly.... Its like R90 a Litre.

Pertamina is about 60rand a litre..

reason for my question, The BMW mechanics ( very experienced pair. and i Know basheer personally as he stayed opposite me )
They user Pertamina lubricants on ALL there personal and customers bmws.
never had any problems with it before..

So wanted to know who used anything other than BMW product and all was ok.

Red Line antifreeze is decent too, but for the price BMW coolant is better. You not going to save thousands by looking for a cheaper alternative.

And blue looks better than green :tiptoe:
