Hi Guys!

This is in reference to my E46 Automatic 318i N42 engine.
So as per topic , can you tell me , what are the symptoms of a cracked , flexdisk which is sometimes called or is supposed to be called , im not sure the Flywheel on an Automatic car?

Its that round plate with a triangle that goes between the engine and the torque converter , the part that has teeth at the ends of which the starter motor uses to turn the engine , It also transmits power im told to the transmission.

This is in reference to the part that goes onto an Automatic car.

Thanks guys for all the assistance.

Excessive driveshaft movement resulting in abnormal vibration in the center floor.

A feeling of a “rough shift” when putting the car in reverse and when shifting to drive.

Noise from underneath the car that resembles a knock, which gets louder as you accelerate (for serious flex disc damage).

ps. found on google

My dad's old E class had a cracked flex disk and it made this strange ticking sound under acceleration. Took a while for us to correctly diagnose it

Yip,

It is a strange grinding/ticking sound on start-up. Put car in P, get under car and slowly turn main crank bolt in front of engine with ratchet, you will hear a grinding sound between engine and gearbox.
