Hi Nicholas, My wife, Gayle drives a 2004 530d with one of OB's chips and pumps just over 600nm. My daily driver is a 2000 540 Individual with branches, exhaust and ECU done. One of the best sounding V8's around as the folk at Auto Alpina Boksburg will tell you.
Fun mobiles start with my 2006 M5 with modified ecu, cats, pulleys, air scoops and block off plates, plus a 3.9 diff. quickest V10 by far that they've ever seen at Auto Alpina. Our 2005 V10 Touareg has also been to OB and now had 1000Nm+ which is HUGE fun with GTI's and Range Rover Sports. Now want to find a Cayenne GTS to try.
Also have a new Noble Ferrari P4 replica (only one in the country) powered by a supercharged 350 Chevy. Huge power in a 1100kg car makes for some interesting acceleration. Just have some recent overheating problems to sort out.Now that Peter Bailey makes something similar I can at least get body panels locally if it gets bumped.
Last car is a 1977 Porsche 930 turbo. Just rebuilt the motor with Barry Nel and busy with a new turbo/GT2 cams upgrade.
I'm 60 years old, have never really grown up, LOVE fast cars and making cars go quicker (nickname is GRUNT as too much power is almost enough!!) P4 registration is GRUNT GP. Enjoy trips to the bush, and to the beach in Mozambique. Did some regularity rallying in my misspent youth and now thinking about historic racing.Live in Fourways, Jhb and work in Boksburg for a metal pressing company.

They are all VERY different to drive as you can imagine.
930 is old school (32 years old) with none of today's driver aids so you really are a part of the driving experience and have to remember to just keep your foot buried on the throttle in quick corners as lift off oversteet is "quite pronounced"....!!
Touareg, good example of "torque is king". Very relaxing to drive and when you want to hustle just touch the throttle. She picks up her skirts and just GOES. Sometimes you feel that a car that heavy shouldn't be accelerating that quickly.
Ferrari P4. Not for those who don't like attention. At some lights near Fourways mall last Sunday i had guys on the side of the road jumping up and whistling and clapping while I was stopped there. Still running in the engine and even with NO boost registering it hauls. Later, after tuning by Gavin Wilkins and on 1.0 bar boost, it should be close to superbike territory on a rolling start. Rear vision is a problem but a camera helps. Probably the most exciting of the four to drive.
M5. Just the business in the real world and actually what i still enjoy most. Extremely civilised but loads of performance when you want it. SMG not the best box around but does the job.It really was a hoot when i still had the twin K&N induction kit fitted and you had that wonderful intake roar when accelerating. Even on idle it was quite noticeable. K&N's don't give the power of the RPI intakes so that's why i changed them.
Must not forget Gayle's chipped 530d. Like the Treg it hauls from any speed and is actually quicker on a roll than the 540.
Uber Soldat, wait until the Porsche comes home and then call around to see them. Hopefully by then we will also have done something about the P4's overheating.

Mike, I had one of the very few ur quattros in South Africa. It was/is a GREAT car, unique in a lot of ways and, with the usual turbo mods, went very well for its day. Often got stopped by people who wanted to know more about the car, something you rarely see with BMW's and it really was a hoot to drive on dirt and in the wet.....! Still think they're great cars and may one day import a "shortie" quattro sport if restrictions ever get lifted on lhd importations.
Hence decoded to use the call sign quattro when possible.
