I lol'd the other day when I saw a 520i with a towbar I had visions of it struggling up a hill with a huge caravan behind it

well mine has a towbar... towed a 2.5ton trailer for capetown to durban 1790km with out a hassil or issues.
besides everyone has no respect for a 2.0bmw but show me a other 2.0 that can pace its self with a bmw 2.0 lol this 520 runs with the 2.5s and 2.8s besides the performance between a 520/320 is dam close to a 525/325 and the fule is better on a 2.0 :wave:

My poor 320i gets hammered on a daily basis, I often wonder if I got a bigger engine car, if it would also get the same treatment, or if I would drive it softer. I suppose its all relative.

Well lets be honist 2.0 bmw's are not made to hurl from robot to robot but on the freeway its a different car have had the privalige to drive a 540im and a e46 325i and looking at the bigger picture the 2.0 is way lighter on fule mostly if you like to thrash you car through the 6500rpm i all gears LOL. what do you drive?

Okay Let me be upfront i have been a bmw fan since 6years old hell i got my first hiding in a bmw.
if anyone gave me a bmw of chice it would firstly be a e 36 3.2 m3 then a bmw 745 the 1999 modle and thidly a bmw e46 330d . the new M3 has a 65l tank and only gets 403km to the tank @120km/h auto cruse on , thus meaning if i dice a m3 from jhb to durban and i drive my 520i i would win cos he will have to fill up twice.

It all depends on the driving style, bigger engine doesnt always mean less efficient.

i had a e 36 320i befor as well automatic but have a manual now ai maual is KING.

I drove my 328i up to jhb at 120km/h-140km/h and used around 45 litres. Yeah manual is great, old school autos are poo.

and please i dont mean it bad in any way i have always wondered how a fourm like this makes money?
second why dont we have a breakfast run you know kinde like the bike clubs? on a saterday once a month would be fantastic have about 2000 bmws crusing on the freeway to ballito or were ever? can you imagen some poor merc fan driving on the freeway woosh woosh woosh woooosh 2000 times and all B>M>W ha ha

Haha, sounds like an interesting plan. But, not everyone lives in durban, so ballito would be a good few hours drive for them.

I dont mind going on a run sometime though.
