In order of the most economical way to fix this:

1.) Check power steering fluid level.
2.) One more vote for a tensioner pulleys - replace all three. While your at it, the belts.
3.) Worse case - alternator - here is a link with video of how that one sounds:

Although it does not fit the description of what you car sounds like, this one is described as sounding like a vacuum cleaner.

Power steering pump - never replaced mine, that why it sound the way it sounds :rollsmile:

Here are the two vids I took before and after replacing the pre-tensioner pulleys.

This was how it sounded when I bought the car and in this clip just before replacement:
[video=youtube]

And now with the two pre-tensioner pulleys on the main belt replaced - need to still replace the pre-tensioner pulley on the AC belt:

Yep, was at its worst in the mornings of course!

Really not that expensive - got the two pre-tensioner pulleys from Masterparts, iirc they were something like R100-R200 each, the third one roughly the same. Can dig up the slips and check. But check realoem as well to see what they look like - Masterparts have their own parts database so often a case of making sure that they are giving you the correct items.

Here are the two that I replaced - the one that attaches to the alternator and then below it. Easy DIY, just a bit fiddly, but no need to cost a fortune! :thumbs:
