Warranty or not to Warranty. That is the question

Hey guys,

So I'm buying a car from a BMW dealership, so I trust I'll be receiving it in perfect condition. The problem is that it's just out of motor plan. I'm going to try and see if I can at least get a 30day free warrenty, but after that I don't know.

I've been offered a warrenty from them for 2 years and unlimited kms.. seems to be quite comprehensive, at about R15k. Now I know these warrenties only exist because on average they make the dealership money, meaning it's not often that it's in the buyers favour... So my question is.. should I take the warrenty, or rather set the money I would have spent on it aside in a savings account or something instead?

I guess you still believe in the tooth fairy as well :hammerhead:

Anyway, what car is it? Maybe provide a bit more detail on the car.

Dont make that mistake , my friend Just purchased an approved used car from a dealership , He picked it up on Monday, It looks like a nice car and is very very clean but it had some issues. I saw the car and asked them to fix them , After he picked it up the issues were still there!

Parts were loose , Engine Oil was low , and there's condensation in one of the rear tail lights .

And this car still has its motorplan!

I have seen some terrible cars sold as approved used at dealerships . One of the cars was a Black F30 M-sport , it looked like that car was painted with off the shelf Can spray paint , it had 30 000kms but the wear looked as if the car had over 400 000kms! And that car was still on motorplan as well.

Firstly Spell Warranty correctly it will help when you claim.
secondly what car is it? specify engine type??
did you take a look at CIA history to see what has been fixed on the car thus far?
what company is the warranty with?

Sorry, the car is a 2013 F30 m sport with all the extras except NAV.

Well that narrows it down... :)

Sorry.. 320i. What else am I missing.

Warranty* sorry guys my Brian's not on 100% at the moment.

The vehicle checks out, only comment was some cosmetic , which was replaced. fender damage. The warranty seems to be with SMG cape town itself, I'm not sure if they get another company to do it with.

The warranty is only partial, but pretty decent (can't remember exactly figures) like Rx cover on this and that, and it's 2 years warranty unlimited mileage, as I said in the first post.

As I said Brian, take the warranty.

Take the warranty.
Mine cost me 12k, and I already claimed
that amount back, even if they don't pay the
full amount, it's better than nothing.

Take it - 2 years, unlimited mileage for R15k sounds good to me.

At least you'll have peace of mind if anything fails.
