If my maths is correct, this exercise will cost R2k every time the car needs to go back into the dealership?

If that is the case, it would personally make more sense to hold onto the CAT after it is removed, instead of having it recycled for less than R1k.

Maybe I got it wrong?

I understand the deposit, but charging R2000 just for use of a cat??? Even at R500 I'd call it steep...

All valid comments above...i think the idea to help someone in need is there...but hell. At R2000 a pop. Plus like it was mentioned, kinda like fraud.

Hi,

Thanks for the comments guys.
We are a established company we have branches countrywide.
It’s not a company that is mobile.
There are many people who are doing it ?
If you opinion is price being too much I respect that.
A catalytic converter costs around 20-30k.
You need to be in a position where you really in desperate need to understand this deal.
Please don’t make comments like it’s fraud if you have never worked with us or have ever had any dealings with us.
If someone has been scammed I respect that but please do not be judgemental without having all your facts.
We are a approved vendor and to be a vendor on bmwfanatics the admins verify company status before accepting a company as a vendor.
Thank you

Come now, I don't see the need to label these advertisers as "frauds" and "sketchy"

EVERYONE who has catless DPs does it when they send their cars in for service (new gen turbo cars) so what if these ppl want to assist a person that doesn't have theirs on hand anymore? And charge a fee for it.

They are offering a legit service - price may be inflated somewhat and a bigger factor here than anything but surely they are open to discussion on this??

So no need for those kinda comments guys.

Comment edited as it was in wrong topic.

If you feel price is very high I understand totally.
A cat at agents costs R20-30k so if the client does not return the cats it’s a risk we are taking.
Regarding Fraud against BMW that is customers option.
I am providing service and not having a gun on anyone’s head to do fraud.
Thanks

Well you're defrauding BMW... Thats what you're doing.

Its pretty simple.

The way i would look at it Rob is the ffg:

As a business they are offering a part on rental basis, What the person who rents the part does with it is his actions. If you wanted label anyone as the fraudster it would be that person who commits the act.

In the same light, it isn't retailers of guns or even the gun itself that kills people. it is the person pulling the trigger who is.

Likewise there are companies that exist to "assist" owners with warranty and plan services.

WRT price, it may not be everyone's cup of tea but there are definitely people who people who will pay for it.

I think from a legal standpoint, given that this is an open forum, you should advertise the service more discretely. Else, you may have Carte Blanche banging on your door, courtesy of snitches.

Take a leaf out of the book of those who sell removable number plate holders. They market it as a way to give your car a clean frontal aspect look for photography purposes. They do not say it is a cool feature if you need to remove your number plates for speeding.

Similarly, it may be prudent to remove all references to "warranty purposes".

Just my 2c.

Actually I also want to let members know that we supply customers catalytic converters and its actually BMW agents that are forwarding customers to us that cannot afford a replacement of a cat or incase nothing in stock and customer requires it urgently.

I could easily say this as well. If the person wants to buy the catalytic converter which is in a good condition and not clogged he is more then welcome to at a price ranging from R4000 - R11000 depending on model and engine of the car.
We are offering these 2 options. Either purchase to own and do as you wish with it. Or simply hire for warranty checkup or road worthy test.
Hope members do understand.
